Are We At War? Unraveling Spiritual Warfare TacticsI

In the realm of spiritual warfare, Christians are constantly engaged in a battle that transcends the physical realm. Understanding the strategies employed in this unseen warfare is crucial for believers seeking victory. Today, we delve into the depths of spiritual warfare, exploring key tactics and the role of prayer in overcoming these challenges.

Unraveling Spiritual Warfare Tactics

"Unraveling Spiritual Warfare Tactics" , an insightful editorial brought to you by Engaging The Truth Team Ministry, dissects the nuances of spiritual warfare that every Christian should be equipped to face.

As Christians, we are called to be vigilant against the forces of darkness that seek to undermine our faith. The enemy's tactics often involve deception, temptation, and doubt, leading us astray from our divine path. Recognizing these subtle attacks is the first step towards victory in spiritual warfare.

Many believers today live so oblivion of the truth that we are actually in a constant warfare. The Bible establishes this truth in Ephesians 6:12 "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." Notice the first 3 words in that verse are in the affirmative "For we wrestle..." So we're actually at war.

However, our conflict is not with fellow human beings, but with systems that seek to undermine our God and His word. Our conflict is with Satan and all his strategies aimed at weakening our Faith in God. You must understand that the first step to victory is to realize that you are in a constant war against Satan.

Know your Weapons

At the heart of spiritual warfare lies the transformative power of prayer. Through prayer, we align ourselves with God's will and invite His divine intervention into our lives. In the midst of battle, prayer becomes our shield and strength, empowering us to overcome the adversities we face.

But wait, prayer is only one of eight weapons that you have in your arsenal. The same passage of Ephesians 6, from verse 14-18 goes on to list the entire Christian armoury;

  1. Truth (Ephesians 6:14):  This is both the personified truth in Jesus and our lifestyle of truthfulness. As believers, we must realize that being truthful always is part of our weapons and in fact, it is the first. We cannot profess to live a prayerful life, yet tell lies to those around us.

  2. Righteousness (Ephesians 6:14): Again, our righteousness has been personified in Jesus; He is the righteousness of God in us and through His death and resurrection, we received God's righteousness. As we maintain a lifestyle of righteousness, we are deploying a powerful weapon that will challenge all unrighteousness around us.

  3. Gospel (Ephesians 6:15): This awesome weapon helps us to breakthrough to new territories and rescue those yet under Satan's hold. The gospel is a fierce offensive weapon that believers use to both challenge Satan's bondage in people's lives and at the same time save the lost. Through the gospel, the light of Jesus shines through, dispelling all darkness.

  4. Faith (Ephesians 6:16): Ha, the Shield of Faith! Faith here is in two forms; our constant confidence in God's faithfulness and the very essence of our belief. As we hold fast this shield, we can repel arrows launched from the camp of the enemy; protecting our childlike confidence in our Father God, and preserving the essence of our Christian Faith, which is Jesus only!

  5. Salvation (Ephesians 6:17): Through the sacrifice of Jesus, we have received salvation. But salvation from what? Salvation from Satan's deceptions. We are no longer bound by former chains, addictions or lifestyle. That salvation is part of our Christian arsenal.

  6. Word (Ephesians 6:17): This is what the Apostle Paul referred to as "Sword of the Spirit". Bible says that this word of God (which is the complete compilation of all of God's promises and instructions) is quick and sharper than physical sword and it has the power to pierce to the innermost parts. As we quote the word of God, we are using one of our most fatal weapons - The Sword of the Spirit.

  7. Prayer (Ephesians 6:18): Even though many believers know this already, we need to understand it beyond mere repetition. The Biblical prayer combines both the power of meditation (mind) and the name of Jesus. When you fix your mind on a solution that you want, a result that you want to see and you begin to quote the word of God, in the name of Jesus, you are accessing a very powerful force that has no limit.

  8. Watching (Ephesians 6:18): Most people do not realize that Watching is part of the weapons listed in Ephesians 6. Instead of the usual seven (7), I noticed that there is a last one which is not the least at all. Our watchfulness was also stressed by Jesus in Matthew 26:41 when He said "Watch and pray..." As we employ all the other weapons, we must not be carried away and forget to watch. We must watch our words, actions, thoughts, character and holiness to ensure that we are still in the right standing with God.

If you notice you are lacking in any of the spiritual weapons listed in Ephesians 6, you can approach God through prayers and ask for His supply.

In the name of Jesus, receive the grace to stand and overcome. Peace to you
