The audition for the 9th session of the reality show, Big Brother Naija started on 27th of March 2024, and like always, there have been several applications.
The first season of the Big Brother Naija reality TV show aired from March 5 to June 4, 2006. It then went off-air for 11 years until it came back in 2017. Since it first aired as ‘Big Brother Nigeria’ in 2006, there have been eight successful seasons of the show.
The show has strikingly eaten deep into the blood of youths, especially Nigerian youths, due to the font it pulled on them as a reality show promoting the socio-cultural values of Nigeria whereas, it is a major decadent to the cultural values held by African societies. To mention but a few of the immoralities promoted by the show are indecent dressing, indiscriminate drinking, and sexual activities on screen.
The housemates are controlled by an unseen Big Brother who constantly speaks to them. This Big Brother is represented with the insignia, the eye that watches all the housemates and puts them in perpetual fear of eviction. For fear of losing out on the rewards of the reality show, each participant strives to please the Big Brother by being the best baddie of the season.
Even though the show has over the years handsomely rewarded the winner, it has laid hold on the youths using the cash as the bait to ensure their submissiveness and kill the curiosity as to who the Big Brother really is. What they do not know, however, is that the Big Brother is an agent of the Anti-Christ.
To start with, the insignia, the eyes of Big Brother, used as a symbol to watch the housemates is the Evil Eyes of Horus. This is the eyes of an ancient god in Egypt now associated with occultism and witchcraft and used for invocation of spirits. George Orwell first made a mention of these eyes in his book, 1984. According to him, the eye is an archetypal symbol that suggests that someone unseen is watching. He wrote the book to demonstrate what could happen if citizens allowed the governments to hold as much power as they desired i.e, a totalitarian society. He also foresees that the State of the future will establish its power by destroying souls and that men will be coerced, not cosseted into soullessness. All of George Orwell's prediction are in progress as the Big Brother exercise the total control over the life and affairs of the housemates and they do not have a mind of their own to check their indecency. The reality show is more than just entertainment, it is a method used to indoctrinate the people into the Anti-Christ nature of Lucifer where he would speak with people telepathically as being shown presently in the Big Brother show.
It is most disheartening, however, that many youths, including Christians, are not knowledgeable about the many ills of this reality show. Many Christian families including pastors of cathedrals now sit around and even burn fuel to see these devilish scenes that adds no value to the society and brings down their spiritual life.
Surprisingly, while Big Brother Naija enjoys immense popularity in Nigeria, it has faced criticism and bans in some countries. In 2018, Uganda banned the show citing concerns about morality and content that could negatively influence viewers, especially children. The show's portrayal of relationships and lifestyle choices outside of Ugandan norms was deemed inappropriate by authorities, reflecting a cultural clash between the show's format and local sensibilities.
This is a call to awakening the present society, most especially those of the household of Faith because, very soon, there will be a separation of the wheat from the tares and there will be wailing and sorrow according to Matthew 13: 24-30. It is not everything that is aired on television that is appropriate for you as a Christian and even for you as non-believer. The Bible admonishes us in 2Corinthings 6:17 to “…come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.”
If you have already polluted yourself with this world, this is another chance for you to re-dedicate yourself to God. Ask Jesus to cleanse you and seek His power to help you overcome sin. God loves you and He wants you to abide in His truth.
