Let's talk about something rare this morning... It might be a long read, but follow me through.

The Halo Effect

In 1949, the United States War Department was renamed as 'Department of Defence', following the influence of a man by the name Edward Bernay.

Edward is known till today as the father of public relations. He believes that words can be crafted in a way to make people accept what they would naturally reject.

Sounds manipulative, well some people call that marketing. Did you know that around the same time, through the influence of Edward Bernay, the cigarette product was promoted in the US as symbol of freedom, especially during the war?

This kind of subtle manipulation has also been carried over into corporate marketing, where you see companies employ attractive females to appeal to their customers so they can buy their products or pay for their services.

It's pure psychology, especially because it is also traced back to Edward Bernay. You see, there are many things we don't understand about the root of why people do the things they do.

So it's a common practice today to see corporate establishments like banks, hotels, restaurants, and real-estate companies employ attractive ladies and position them at strategic places to satisfy some 'lust' in their customers, and from there they do business with the company.

There is nothing wrong in being attractive as a lady, and it is absolutely fantastic to dress well whether as male or female, but when you are being used as a tool for marketing manipulation, you should know and draw a line.

It's not because these corporate bodies love you or want to provide for your needs, it's because you fit into the physical profile of a 'tool' they can use to make more money. This kind of employment is unbiblical.

There is nothing wrong in asking employees to put up a smile, however you know as an employer the motive behind your decision. If it is because "Hm, this lady is attractive and she will help please my customers so they can buy from me", then you're being manipulative.

The Bible says we are made in God's image; you are not a tool for marketing.

I see how many corporate firms dangle their female employees like candy to their customers.

As they talk about their actual product, they're also reading "C'mon don't you like what you see"? And it's rooted in public relations; using physical appearance to shape customer perception.

Young lady, your body is the temple of the living God. Let me type that for you again; your body, is the temple of the living God.

I know for sure that one of the ways God's judgement will come is in the way we use our body. What we use that body for.

On this side of eternity, we may excuse our actions because the employer wants to make profit and the employee is in desperate need of a paying job, but it will not be excused by God.

You know deep down in yourself when you are selling yourself along selling your product; the Lord wants me to tell you to stop that action, your body is not your own!

You are a property of God. Designed by God, made for God and His glory!

Don't allow the pursuit of money force you into using people as tools to sell your products and don't allow people to dangle you like candy to their customers for their product or service...
