Global Intercession is a monthly program of Engaging the Truth Team (ETT) that was convened by the Holy Spirit with the mandate of interceding for our families, friends, and nations of the world. We believe that, apart from preaching the gospel, another height of our Christian love is to pray for the salvation, healing, and peace of families and communities around us and far abroad. Since May 2022, we have gathered believers from different parts, both physically and online, to engage in this ministry of intercession, which we call "the prayers of Jesus."

• Status in terms of evangelism: Emerging (large population, many still unreached/under-reached people groups)

• Current environmental crises: Deforestation, water scarcity, oil pollution (especially in the Niger Delta) and other critical environmental threats.

• Population (2022 est.): ~ 579,000 (including ~ 187,000 foreign residents) 

• Main religion: Sunni Islam (state religion; citizenship requires it) 

• Status in terms of evangelism: Very restricted / extremely challenging. Public propagation of other faiths is legally and socially constrained. 

• People cluster: Small-Island Developing States / South Asia / Indian Ocean region

• Current environmental crisis:

1. Sea-level rise / risk of submergence (the Maldives is one of the world’s most low-lying countries) 

2. Water scarcity / salt-water intrusion / degraded groundwater on outer islands Human Rights

• Population (2025 est.): ~ 6.48 million 

• Main religion: Predominantly Christian (about three-quarters of population) with a minority Muslim and animist presence. 

• Status in terms of evangelism: Many Christian groups present; evangelical/protestant work active though some blend of traditional beliefs persists.

• People cluster: Sub-Saharan Africa

• Current environmental crisis:

1. Flooding and heavy rainfall damage (e.g., large‐scale floods impacting hundreds of thousands)

2. Other environmental pressures (though specific large-scale deforestation/oil issues less documented in this summary than in DRC)
