Global Intercession is a monthly program of Engaging the Truth Team (ETT) that was convened by the Holy Spirit with the mandate of interceding for our families, friends, and nations of the world. We believe that, apart from preaching the gospel, another height of our Christian love is to pray for the salvation, healing, and peace of families and communities around us and far abroad. Since May 2022, we have gathered believers from different parts, both physically and online, to engage in this ministry of intercession, which we call "the prayers of Jesus."
This Month - October 2025
Nations-in-focus: Nigeria, Cameroon, and Congo
🇳🇬 Nigeria
-
Continent: Africa (West Africa)
-
Population (2026 Est.): ~242.4 million
-
Main Religion: Roughly divided between Islam (predominantly in the North) and Christianity (predominantly in the South), with a minority practicing traditional indigenous beliefs.
-
Status of Evangelism: Significantly reached, but with a "high-pressure" environment. While it has one of the largest Christian populations in the world, the North remains a frontier for evangelism, and the country faces a high persecution rank (Ranked #7 globally by Open Doors).
-
People Cluster: Extremely diverse with over 500 ethnic groups. Major clusters include the Hausa-Fulani, Yoruba, and Igbo.
-
Political & Economic Crises: Persistent security threats from non-state armed groups (Boko Haram/ISWAP) in the Northeast and banditry in the Northwest. Economically, the country faces high inflation, debt servicing challenges, and a "cost of living" crisis.
-
Current Environmental Crises: Severe seasonal flooding (particularly in the Niger Delta and North), desertification encroaching from the Sahara, and significant pollution issues in oil-producing regions.
🇨🇲 Cameroon
-
Continent: Africa (Central/West Africa)
-
Population (2026 Est.): ~30.6 million
-
Main Religion: Predominantly Christianity (mostly Roman Catholic and Protestant), with a significant Muslim minority (about 20-30%) concentrated in the North.
-
Status of Evangelism: Partially to Significantly reached. The southern regions have a deep Christian history, while the "Far North" is considered more of a mission frontier due to Islamic influence and security instability.
-
People Cluster: Includes the Cameroon-Bamileke, Bantu, Fulani, and various "Kirdi" groups in the north.
-
Political & Economic Crises: The "Anglophone Crisis" (separatist conflict in the Northwest and Southwest) remains a major political strain. The country also deals with an influx of refugees from the Central African Republic and Nigeria.
-
Current Environmental Crises: Acute climate vulnerability in the Far North (extreme droughts followed by devastating floods) and deforestation in the Congo Basin areas due to timber exploitation.
🇨🇩 Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)
-
Continent: Africa (Central Africa)
-
Population (2026 Est.): ~116.5 million
-
Main Religion: Predominantly Christianity (approximately 90%, including Roman Catholics, Protestants, and Kimbanguists), with a small Muslim minority.
-
Status of Evangelism: Significantly reached in terms of profession, but often categorized as "Superficially Reached" in specific remote regions due to the need for deeper discipleship and the presence of syncretic traditional practices.
-
People Cluster: Over 200 ethnic groups, primarily Bantu (including Luba, Kongo, and Mongo) and Azande.
-
Political & Economic Crises: Intense and escalating conflict in the Eastern DRC involving the M23 rebel group and other militias. Despite vast mineral wealth, it remains one of the world's poorest nations with a collapsing health system and high rates of internal displacement.
-
Current Environmental Crises: Rapid deforestation of the world's second-largest rainforest, illegal mining causing toxic soil/water pollution, and severe cholera outbreaks exacerbated by poor sanitation infrastructure.
