Hello readers, it's nice to have you checking out this edition of Slice of Infinity newsletter.
Some situations come crashing down upon us, making the reality of life stark and inescapable. These events, like a sudden loss, devastating accidents, or unexpected failures, can shape our lives, for better or worse. I've experienced such a moment.
In 2021, my business ran into severe losses, accumulating debts exceeding 4 million Naira. This was especially crushing because just before, in 2020, I felt God's powerful calling to begin the Engaging the Truth Team Ministry (ETT), dedicated to sharing the love and truth of Jesus Christ. As the debt ballooned later in the year 2021, it took a brutal toll on my mental health and faith. My interest in anything godly waned, and our ministry activities became inconsistent.
Yet, God's steadfast love remained. Through faithful friends, colleagues, and others He sent, I received support and encouragement. Though I didn't seek Him, He (God) relentlessly ran after me. Those days, my mornings were often flooded with tears, questioning the point of waking up to face creditor calls and threats.
Like Psalm 54:4 said "...God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul", God kept me afloat in His unwavering mercy and through some of the people around me. Amidst the crisis, I discovered a flicker of God's love still burning within me. Through the Holy Spirit and those He used, I found the courage to rise and choose life, no matter how difficult. Standing up and going on was really difficult, but God's arm came around my shoulders and helped me up
Although the debt is still there, I rediscovered the strength to seek God and recommit to His gospel, while looking to raise the money. By 2022, with faith renewed, we hosted our first Gospel Conference with free health services in Erinosun, Osun State, Nigeria (the gospel work must continue, no matter what). Soon after, we held our Annual Classical Music Convention (ACMC). And by late 2022, we launched our 24/7 online radio, consistently broadcasting the gospel message. By the end of 2023, God had blessed our online outreach, reaching 39 countries through our website and radio.
In life, we encounter crossroads where we choose to face challenges with God or use our faith in Him as collateral, sacrificing our love for Him in the face of hardship. While doubting God during such times is understandable, it's not the answer (Psalm 73:25-26). Instead of doubt, self-blame, or negativity, we must remember that love for God transcends earthly circumstances (1 John 4:19). Our true essence lies not in what happens to us, but in how we respond. In my experience, the path of trusting God and persevering proves victorious.
Remember, our love for God doesn't stem from His promises alone, but from His unconditional love for us first. As John puts it "Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he [first] loved us..." (1 John 4:10) [bracket mine]. Therefore, we should see those defining moments as opportunities to show our love for God, like the three Hebrew children in Daniel chapter 3.
I pray that God will perform miracles in our lives to prove our faith in Him right, in the name of Jesus. Take courage and keep moving forward.
