THAT'S THE WAY GOD WANTS IT TO BE

I saw a beautiful Christian musical some years ago. In this musical, towards the end, there was a singing competition for choirs from various churches across the country. In one of the categories of this completion, there was a shocker!

In a competition where generally you have groups of adults hustling for the grand prize, there was a choir of kids! I think the oldest couldn’t possibly have been more than thirteen! What was more beautiful was the song they rendered and as I thought of what the Holy Spirit had for someone reading this, that was the song that popped into my mind. That song spoke of love and fellowship amongst God’s people and kept hammering on a chorus line that said, "that’s the way God wants it to be!" That is, in every relationship, we have as God’s creatures, His original plan was for us is to relate with others with love and sweet fellowship.

It is disheartening to know however that, even in the church today, criticism, envy, resentment, power play, politics, and a nauseating sanctimonious attitude is what is the order of the day. That’s certainly not the way God planned or wants it to be.

The Lord Jesus Christ, our Saviour, who also is the Author and Finisher of our faith said in John 13:35, that, "In this shall all men know you’re my disciples if ye have love one towards another." So, if whatever describes your relationship with others as a Christian is not love, then sorry, something is inherently wrong.

In the early church, we see the exemplary life of unity, love, and devotion that they lived, doing everything as one. That is the way God wants it to be!

Besides all these, if it’s not love, it’s not a fruit of the Spirit. And if what is manifesting in you is not the fruit of the Spirit, then you don’t have the Spirit of God inside of you, because a mango tree cannot produce oranges. More so, the indwelling presence of the Spirit of God is what confirms our fellowship with God.

Dear reader, look inwards. The state of your heart towards others, is it what God wants it to be? Well, it might not be you on the giving end of the resentment, you just might be the recipient. But, how are you taking it? Today, on whichever side you are, there is no condemnation coming from the Throne of Grace, only a call to become better and to live our lives in relation to others the way God wants.

I pray that, by the absolute mercy of God, we all will live our lives to put a broad smile on the Savior's face every day, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Yours sincerely, Spirit Pen!
